Biographical Sketch of Our Pastor

The Reverend Doctor Michael R. Bean, Sr is the thirteenth of nineteen children born to Mr. and Mrs. Burton Harry Ferguson Bean of Hamilton Parish, Bermuda.  The church has always provided a sense of identity and centeredness for him.

After graduation from St. George's Secondary School,  he trained as a reporter for two years with the Royal Gazette.   Sensing a hunger to serve others, he became a United Nations Volunteer (in England).   After working with troubled youth and community service organizations for two years, he answered the call to the Ministry.   Reverend Bean returned to Bermuda to serve in his home church, Bethel A.M.E. Church.

He graduated from Clark Atlanta University where he received the Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology.   He later received the Master of Divinity and Master of Religious Education Degrees from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. 

From 1979 to 1989, he served Quinn Chapel A.M.E Church in Cleveland, Ohio. Since November 1989, he has had the honor of serving  St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Columbus, Ohio, the oldest African American Church in Franklin County.  In 1994, after three years of study and preparation; while serving as St. Paul's Pastor, he received the Doctor of Ministry Degree from United Theological Seminary.

Reverend Bean is married to Dr. Canise Y. Bean, Dentist.  They are the proud parents of Michael Rodger, Jr. and Yvette Floranita.   Reverend Bean believes with God all things are possible, particularly those things which appear to be impossible.
