A WORK OF ART

Weve all read of sculptors who spend hours in junk yards searching for pieces of metal that can be welded and shaped into works of art.  He looks at an article such as a discarded automobile bumper and sees it as something different than it is.  He then proceeds to transform it from a piece of junk into an object of art.

This is the way God works with our lives.  Even when the things we do displease the Lord, He sees us as better persons than we appear to be.  God looked at young David and knew that he was destined for a life of greatness.  Samuel could not visualize the gentle shepherd boy as king, but God could.

We may be bold and brash and hurt the feelings of others because of our thoughtlessness.  Or we may be timid and have no confidence in ourselves.  But God can see good in us in spite of our weaknesses and imperfections. When we willingly trust ourselves to God, each of us can become the person God wants us to be.

The Lord does not see as mortals see; they look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.  I Samuel 16:7
