"I remind you to rekindle the gift of God which is within you."
2 Timothy 1:6

Most explanations of the Parable of the Talents hardly mention the middle servant. Though praised in the same way as the one who had been entrusted with many talents, the two-talent servant goes unnoticed and unsung..

Most of us are like that servant, somewhere in the middle, neither great saints nor notorious sinners.  The world and the church benefit greatly from the dedication of unsung, average people.  The Master did not say, "well done, successful and important servant."  He said, "well done, good and faithful servant."  What is commendable is faithfulness in performing the duties God gives us, using the talents we are given.

We do not have to do great things to serve God faithfully.  What we need is fewer architects and more bricklayers, fewer stars and more supporting players who love God with every part of their lives.
