WHAT IS TRUE MINISTRY ???
“I appeal to you, brothers, (and sisters) in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.” 1 Corinthians 1:10 NIV
True ministry is always a team effort. Paul was emphasizing that no one person should do everything. Paul’s gift was preaching, and that’s what he did. Christian ministry should be a team effort; no preacher, teacher or leader is a complete link between God and people, and no individual can do all that the apostles did.
True ministry is being obedient to God. These principles are just as valid today as they were for Paul.
True ministry reflects God’s truth, both in what is said and in how it’s lived.
True ministry considers the needs of others, and reflects faithfulness to family responsibilities. Spiritual leadership must begin at home.
True ministry centers on God’s message and includes preparation and feedback.
True ministry should lead others towards God, should stand up for what is right, and should reply on God for help and power.
We all have our own special gifts of ministry to share. We are all different but can still be united in our differences. Christians are called to work together within the body of Christ to make His Church what he desires it to be. We must ALL, leadership and the congregation, work together. The St. Paul AME Church family is very proud of our entire leadership body.
“The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all it’s parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ.” 1 Corinthians 12:12 NIV
