The Christian Endeavor Pledge

Trusting in the Lord, Jesus Christ for strength, I promise Him, that I will strive to do whatever He would like to have me do; I will make it the rule of my life to pray and read the Bible every day, and to support the work and worship of my own Church in every way possible; and that just so far as I know how, throughout my whole life, I will endeavor to lead a Christian life.

THE EMBLEM

The Emblem of Christian Endeavor is a graphic representation of the individual endeavourer's allegiance to Christ.  The "C" surrounds or embraces the "E" symbolizing that the Endeavor is all within Christ.  The "C" and the "E" touch at four points, representing what until 2004 were the four principles of Christian Endeavor.

About Allen Christian Endeavor

Christian Endeavor was founded on February 2, 1881, in Portland, Maine, by Pastor Francis Clark, of the Williston Congregational (now United Church of Christ) Church.  Part of the mission of Christian Endeavor is to "create platforms upon which young people can come of age as Christian workers and leaders."

Christian Endeavor, an international inter-denominational, and inter-racial organization, was adopted by the A.M.E. Church as part of its Christian Education ministry not long after CE's founding and given the name
Allen Christian Endeavor as a tribute to Bishop Richard Allen, founder of the A.M.E. Church.

Through the years, ST. Paul ACE (SPACE) has been represented at numerous Christian Endeavor events as well as recent quadrennial connectional Christian Education Congresses of the AME Church. Also SPACE, as part of Ohio Christian Endeavor, assisted in hosting a Christian Endeavor International Youth Summit which was held in Columbus last summer.

The SPACE groups meet at 6:00 p.m. in the undercroft every Wednesday, except the first Wednesday of the month, throughout the school year. In addition to Bible Study or the topic of the week, we provide a nutritious meal prepared by Sis. Veronica Lofton and her "crew".   Last year, over 1,000 meals were served.  At the end of the school year, we join with the YPD for an end of season cookout.

Highlights of the past year include:

  • Chapel Service and tour at Capital University (Middle School/Sr. High)

  • "The Passion of the Christ" (Middle School/ Sr. High)

  • "Send Us The Promise" - Attended Passion Play at Grove City Church of the Nazarene (Juniors/Middle School/Sr. High)

  • Presented the Columbus Alternative High School Chorale in Concert

  • Fall outing (hayride, etc.) at Circle S Farms (all groups)

  • Participation in "Miracle On Long Street"

  • Sale of Entertainment 2005 coupon books (Senior High) "Wildlights" at the Columbus Zoo (Primaries)

  •  Tawawa Christian Education Congress at Wilberforce University.

For this year, (2005), we plan to continue and expand our community outreach by assisting in a "free Grocery" Project through a local food pantry. Funds raised from our recent sale of "Entertainment 2005" books will go towards this project

During the school's Easter break, the Senior group is planning to visit another area Christian College as was done at Capital University last year, and other activities are being planned for the younger groups.

On Sunday, April 24, at 5:00 p.m. we will again present the Columbus Alternative High School Chorale in concert. This excellent ensemble is directed by Sis. Beverly Elder of our congregation and again, we are soliciting your attendance and patronage.

This summer, for the first time in many years, we are expecting to have at least two participants in the Third District's "Matriculation to Christian Living". Watch for Additional information
